Pair of WWII Trench Art Brass Shell Case Vases Hand Engraved Military 1943 Bofors

£120.00

A striking pair of original WWII-era trench art vases, handmade from large brass military shell cases and dated 1943.

Both shell cases have been carefully worked and hand engraved, featuring decorative military-inspired designs including aircraft, ships and other wartime motifs. The tops have been shaped into attractive scalloped rims, while the lower sections retain the distinctive form of the original cartridge cases.

The base markings include the 1943 date and military/manufacturer markings, with the cases believed to be associated with Bofors anti-aircraft ammunition.

Trench art pieces such as these were traditionally produced from spent military materials by servicemen, prisoners of war, or civilians during and around periods of conflict. They make fascinating pieces of WWII militaria and social history.

Condition: Vintage condition with age-related tarnishing, patina, scratches and marks throughout, all adding to their character. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

Sold as a matching pair.

An impressive decorative pair for a collection of WWII militaria, trench art, military history or unusual antique brassware.
